Graduation Party Checklist

Graduation Party Checklist

Are you celebrating an educational milestone this spring? Congratulations! Cantoro Market will help you plan and execute a flawless graduation party that will be remembered for years to come.

Set the date three or four weeks in advance, and invite everyone you want! Out-of-town family may surprise you with a visit, or they may just send a gift — a win/win! A month ahead is a good time to reserve party rentals and services, too.

Assemble your food and drinks plan about two or three weeks before the event. It’s safe to assume about 75% of your invited guests will show up, and you want to get easy hors d’oeuvres that can be prepped ahead of time.  Swedish meatballs and Deviled eggs are a great start. If you need help with finger foods, check out our prepped food counter!

Order a personalized cake at our bakery this week or next, and don’t be the last ones to look for your school’s colors in party décor, either – get your streamers, tablecloths, and plates locked down as soon as possible.

The two weeks leading up to your new graduate’s party will include lots of planning: arranging music to play, gathering photos for a slideshow, and preparing party favors, centerpieces, and games or entertainment.  One week out, check the weather forecast to make sure your plans don’t need to be altered, and start preparing any of the food that can be frozen and reheated the day of the party.

On the days leading up to your bash, remember to notify your neighbors about overflow parking (and maybe extend a last-minute invite), make sure you have space in your camera’s memory, tidy your yard and house, and stock up toiletries in guest bathrooms.

On party day, keep your cold foods refrigerated until guests arrive, and prepare the hot food last and keep in the warm oven.  Take several moments to congratulate yourself and take some deep breaths to shift into party mode, and make sure to have some fun in between hosting duties!
