Cantoro Trattoria Receives Wine Spectator 2017 Award of Excellence
We are proud to announce that Wine Spectator magazine has bestowed our Trattoria with a 2017 Award of Excellence. The lifestyle publication, which focuses on wine and wine culture, praised restaurants from all 50 states and 75 countries that have outstanding wine programs.
The Award of Excellence recognizes restaurants whose wine lists feature a well-chosen assortment of quality producers, along with a thematic match to the menu in both price and style, satisfying discerning wine lovers. Cantoro was among the 457 eateries worldwide who received the award for the first time.
We have a continuously changing list of hundreds of wines in our dining room and downstairs “Cantina,” as well as for sale in the market. In addition, our Cantina houses several “highly allocated” wines that our beverage team, which includes Sommeliers Alex Bazzy and Tom Newstead, purchase whenever there is an opportunity. Many wines on our list are from California and Italy, where Co-Owner Mike Fallone visits annually to handpick which bottles will make it to diner’s tables and store shelves.
“I am incredibly proud of our staff for what we have accomplished together to receive this prestigious award,” said Alex Bazzy. “We have put a lot of work into developing one of the best wine inventories in the state and are pleased that others recognize all we have done to achieve this.
The full list of winners is highlighted in the August 31, 2017 issue of Wine Spectator.
